Rev. Timothy J. Coughlin, S.J. was born in Bayonne on May 22, 1893 and entered the Society of Jesus as a Secular Priest at Poughkeepsie September 22, 1924.
After a short review of Philosophy at Weston College, he was assigned to St. Joseph's in Philadelphia where, with the exception of the Tertianship year, he spent 10 years. In 1937, he was assigned to become Regent of the Evening School of St. Peter's College until August 24, 1939 when he was named Rector of Canisius High School. Following the death of Father O'Malley, he was appointed President of Canisius University on July 16, 1941.
He spent one year as Treasurer at LeMoyne College, Syracuse in 1947, one year as Assistant Dean in Jersey City, and in 1950 was assigned to Retreat work at Morriston, NJ.
He died very suddenly in Bayonne February 13, 1951.
