Announcement that Canisius will offer a new Associate in Underwriting program. The four-course program is being offered by the Center for Professional Development.
Canisius announced that, starting in the fall 1996 semester, a new master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) will be offered. The two-year program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of student services with a special emphasis on private institutions.

A statue of St. Peter Canisius was dedicated in the Canisius University Quadrangle to the memory of the late Rev. James M. Demske, S.J., former president and chancellor of Canisius.

Masten District Councilman Byron Brown spoke as part of the college's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.
February
Center for Entrepreneurship received a gift from the family of the late George F. Rand III, enabling the center to embark on several projects aimed at preparing students to start and manage their own companies.
February 17
The Canisius basketball team played their final game in the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium before they begin playing future games in the new Crossroads Arena in Downtown Buffalo. Alumni and friends gathered to celebrate with the team.

Army ROTC program was named the best in its region by the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America. The Canisius ROTC program received this award in 1992, making them only the second program in the nation to receive the honor twice. They were also nominated for the same award at the national level.

The Frank G. Raichle Lecture Series on Law in American Society welcomed Attorney General Janet Reno.
April 24
The Sport Administration Program welcomed Joseph Molloy, general partner of the New York Yankees. Molloy's lecture was titled An Insider's View of the New York Yankees.
May
Announcement that Michael R. Monin, President of United States Lighting in Willoughby, Ohio, will address the Canisius University Class of 1996 during commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 17 in Buffalo's Memorial Auditorium. Monin will also be among five individuals receiving honorary degrees.
May 6
Board of Trustees approved the development of a satellite site in Amherst for courses offered through the college's master of business administration (MBA) degree program. Classes at the Amherst site will be offered in addition to classes offered at the Main Street campus.

College's fundraising efforts for fiscal year 1995-1996 resulted in over $6.2 million in private gifts and grants for the institution, making it the most successful fundraising year in Canisius University history.
October
Canisius University Little Theatre kicked off their 50th year with the presentation of John Loves Mary, a comedy written by Norman Krasna.
Canisius University was ranked 13th in the U.S. News and World Report's annual list of America's Best College Values Among Regional Universities in the North, based on "sticker" price, according to the September 23rd issue of the magazine. Canisius also ranked fourth in the "discount" price category, which ranked schools according to the cost of attending.

The William H. Fitzpatrick Chair of Political Science Lecture Series presented Senator Bill Bradley (D-New Jersey).
November 6
The Statler Hotel Management Program and The Centre International de Glion (CIG) in Switzerland entered into an agreement, which will require Canisius students to study for a semester at CIG's Bulle campus, beginning in January, 1997.
