About the Archives

The Rev. J. Clayton Murray, S.J. Archives serves as the institutional memory of the college. We identify, acquire and maintain historic records that chronicle the development of the College. Archives ensures an accurate, well- maintained record of decisions which have shaped Canisius College.

Mission

The Canisius College Archives was established in 1960 to collect, preserve, and make available documents pertaining to the history of Canisius College.

The purpose of the Archives is:

  • To identify and preserve items related to Canisius College history
  • To inform and educate users of our collections
  • To provide administrative support to members of the Canisius community
  • To enrich scholarship through access to historical documents.

All members of the Canisius community, administrators, staff, faculty, students, alumni and other interested members of the public are welcome to make use of the collections.

Genealogists are welcome to use the collections as well, although support for such research is a courtesy rather than a primary service.
