Welcome.  Today you are here to learn how to find resources using the Canisius library.  The following video will touch on searching, limiting and accessing the resources you have available to you here at Canisius. 

Do you need an article that deals with a film, work or author?  Does the article need to be in a different language?   If so, try one of these sources:

The Canisius library owns many dictionaries for many different languages. 

To search for dictionaries in the Canisius Library:

Type in the language you are searching for and the term dictionary. Then use the limit "books and e-books" located in the left-hand column.

ex. Chinese dictionary

To search for books and e-books in the Canisius Library:

Type in the keyword you are searching for and use the limit "books and e-books" located in the left-hand column.

You also have access to the book collections from other private colleges from New York State. Click here to search these collections.  Any book you request will be shipped to Canisius for your use.  Books usually take 5 business days to reach the college. 

You may also request books not owned by Canisius or ConnectNY through Interlibrary loan.

 

The library has many works by Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, etc authors, most of which will be found in the P section of the library.  Below are some subjects you may want to try searching in the catalog.  You may also want to search by a particular title or author. 

  • Spanish Literature
  • German Fiction
  • French Poetry

The library owns many foreign language films.  Below are the subjects they may be listed under in the catalog

  • Motion Pictures Language  ex. Motion Pictures Spanish
  • Foreign Films
  • Feature Films Country ex. Feature Films Poland
