Food & Drink
- Food and drink are allowed in the Library except for the Computer
Lab.
- There are vending machines located on the lower level near the lounge.
- The Library encourages the use of covered containers for beverages.
Please respect the environment by disposing of waste properly.
- To be considerate of other patrons, please refrain from eating crunchy,
smelly or messy foods. After eating, please wash and dry your hands
before handling library materials.
- If spills occur, please immediately report the location of the spill
to a staff member at the closest public service desk who will arrange
for clean up.
Noise
- We depend on the courtesy of all our patrons to keep a productive
atmosphere in the Library. The second floor has been designated a QUIET
AREA.
- Group study rooms are located on all floors and a lounge has been
provided on the lower level.
- Complaints about noise levels in the building should be directed to
a staff member.
Cell Phones
- Ringing cell phones and loud conversations are distracting to faculty
and students who use the Library to study and conduct research.
- Please be considerate of others.
- Library patrons should set their cell phones to silent or vibrate
mode.
- The following areas may be used for cell phone conversation:
- The lower level lounge
- Study and meeting rooms
- Stairwells
- The hall outside the main entrance.
Visitors
- Visitors are required to sign in at the Circulation Desk.
- Visitors may not borrow books or other library materials.
- Library computers are for academic research and Canisius College students,
faculty and staff have priority.
- Elementary and middle school students must be accompanied and supervised
by an adult when in the Library.
- If children or teens engage in inappropriate behavior in the Library
and/or are not accompanied by an adult, they will be asked to leave.
- Inappropriate behavior by children or teens in the Library is defined
as disruptive behavior and/or misuse of library facilities or equipment
including computers.
