His name is on the building and this page. Your library is named for Rev. Andrew L. Bouwhuis, S.J., College Librarian from 1935-55, and he spent more than half his 52 years in the Jesuit order as College Librarian (now called Library Director). Born in Buffalo in 1895, he began his Canisius career just after the library moved from its original home in a second-floor classroom of Old Main to the first floor.
Why not Book a Librarian? You can schedule one on one time with a librarian to help you find the materials you need for your papers and other research. Just fill out the form at http://library.canisius.edu/book-a-librarian and we will schedule an appointment with you.
The fifth annual Ignatian Scholarship Day will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at various venues on campus. You can reserve a library technology group viewing room to practice your presentation.
Library laptops have become more available to checkout because many students have been bringing their own personal mobile devices to the library including iPads, smartphones, netbooks and their personal laptops. This has caused a drop in demand for checking out library laptops which is reflected in this chart. That drop in demand means more are available when students need them. Current data reflects that this trend has continued during this academic year.
Need a little more privacy while practicing your language skills using Rosetta Stone? We've converted a small study room on the lower level of the Library into a private Rosetta Stone room. There is a computer in the room with the language software and headphones are available to check out at the circulation desk. You can book the room using the online study room reservation system on the Library home page.
