Links to Journal Articles in the Library's Databases

You can create citations that link directly to a journal article in one of the Library's
databases. These links are called "durable links" because the URL should never
expire. That means that the citations in the paper you wrote should
still work at the end of the term when you hand it it.

Durable links can also be used on Web sites or bibliographies.

How to Create Durable Links to Articles in:

 

 

 

EBSCOHost - Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier

Connect to EBSCOHost and perform your search.

Click into the article and choose the citationCitation link at the top of the page.
Scroll towards the bottom of the page to find Persistent link to this record: .

Example:

R. B. "Icy domes, flows on Titan." Astronomy, 33 (Feb2005):26.

Mark the article(s) you are interested in.

At the top of the page, click on research summary My Research Summary.

Under the link to each article you will see a URL that you can copy and past into your Blackboard class.

 

You can also find this URL for the durable link by clicking into each article.
At the top of the page along with the citaiton information you will see Document URL: .

JSTOR

Simply cut and paste the Stable URL: into your document.
Stable URLs appear in the list of citation results from your search.

ScienceDirect Perform you search on ScienceDirect. When you find the
article you are interested in, click into the article. On the right hand side
of the screen, choose the Export Citation link

The next screen contains a durable URL that you can copy and paste into blackboard.

Gale Databases: Health Reference Center While viewing an article, an InfoMark
at the top of any page, indicates that the URL of the page persists
even when the session is over. The URL in the Address box of your browser is
your durable link. You can copy and paste it into your HTML document.

Project Muse

You can cut and paste the URL from the Address box in your browser.

Example:

Naxos

Use the red button at the top of the screen to logout of Naxos and login again with your password.

Click on the CD you are interested in.

At the bottom right hand side of the page there is a button labeled Show Static URL.

Clicking on this displays durable links for music selections that you acna copy and paste into your web page.

Off campus access:
In order to ensure off campus access, patrons must go through the Library's proxy server.
This is done by altering the URL. Some of the databases do this for you automatically.
