Opened in 1988, the 96,000 square-foot, air-conditioned, three story building can hold up to 700,000 volumes and seat over 500 people. Excellent study and research accommodations are provided by a mix of individual carrels, table seating, and lounge chairs that are positioned throughout the building. The general public seating areas are supplemented by various specialty areas that include: group study rooms; an audio-visual listening/viewing area; a rare book room; a Library Instruction Room; a Curriculum Materials Center; and lounge areas.

Special equipment: coin- and debit card-operated copy machines; cassette, record, CD, and DVD players; VCRs and monitors; microform readers and printers; CD-ROM and multi-media workstations; computers, laptops.
Eight full-time and three part-time librarians are employed to provide exemplary collections and services; each librarian has an American Library Association accredited Master of Library Science Degree. Five technical assistants and clerks, and over seventy student assistants are employed in various capacities.
Students
A Canisius ID card enables a student to borrow all circulating materials for four weeks; one renewal is allowed.
Graduates/Alumni
Graduates of Canisius College may borrow up to 5 items at one time for a four (4) week period. A University ID number is required. Computers and online databases can be accessed on campus when available. Access to online databases from off campus is not allowed due to license contracts restrictions.
Friends
Members of the community are welcome to use the collections on the premises. Courtesy borrowing privileges are available only in cases of special need and unusual circumstances. INFOPASS cards are honored.
The Library is open 109 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters.
